Summer Jobs at the HCV – Hiring Now!

The HCV is hiring qualified people ages 15-30 under the Canada Summer Jobs program.

Each position begins ASAP,  running until September 1st, 2019.

The following positions are available to be filled ASAP.  

Youth Coordinator – 2 positions available

The Youth Coordinator is responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of programs for youth in the community. The Youth Coordinator will work closely with the Parish Priest to identify new programs and these individuals will be responsible for promoting, organizing and leading youth programs for various age levels (from pre-school to late teens). The Youth Coordinator will provide organizational support for the programs and will organize youth events, activities, including retreats and trips. This position will be also responsible to promote these programs through various channels, including newsletters and social media channels. This position supports local priorities including sports, and recreation, arts and culture, and youth leaders. 

The Youth coordinator will report to the Senior Administrative Officer (“SAO”) and the parish priest. On a weekly basis, the Youth Coordinator will meet with both the SAO and the parish priest to review the weekly programming and these individuals will give the Youth Coordinator feedback on this weekly plan. The Youth Coordinator will need to ensure that they have contingency plans for each of the weekly programs, and will require time management skills to coordinate activities. On a monthly basis, the Youth Coordinator will provide a report to the SAO and the parish priest on the results of the programs. The Youth Coordinator will meet with the SAO to review the monthly reports and discuss areas for improvement. The Youth Coordinator will need to make decisions on what programs to offer participants to ensure that the needs of all constituents are met.

One of the highlights of these positions will be coordinating the full Camp Met summer camp program. For this portion, the Youth Coordinator will report to the Camp Met Coordinator as well as the Parish Priest. 

Cultural Programs Coordinator

The Cultural Programs Coordinator (CPC) will be responsible for developing and organizing a variety of cultural programs for the community at large which will showcase the integration of Greek culture within the Canadian framework for the year. The CPC will work to develop programs around Greek folk dance, dance, art and music. The CPC will engage the community and work with volunteers throughout the community to develop and offer these cultural programs to a variety focus groups within the community. The CPC will also be responsible to create information about Greek culture (art, music and dance) on the community’s website as well as maintain the member database.

The Cultural Programs Coordinator will report to the Senior Administrative Officer (SAO) and the Outreach Coordinator. The CPC will meet with the SAO and the Outreach Coordinator at the beginning of the term to map out and develop a work plan of the programs that will be offered. The student will be required to provide weekly updates via e-mail to both the SAO and the Outreach Coordinator. The SAO and Outreach Cordinator will be required to provide feedback to the student on weekly basis on their progress.

Greek Language Program Liaison

The Greek Language Program Liaison (GLPL) will be responsible for ensuring registrations for the HCV’s Greek School Program are running smoothly and are well advertised. This includes processing forms on the membership database, keeping an account of payments and volunteer cheque deposits, as well as running registration reports.  Additionally, the GLPL may be required to coordinate with external stakeholders to implement new learning applications for our 2019-2020 curriculum.  The GLPL may also consult with the Cultural Programs Coordinator in order to implement Greek Language interest programming together, according to member feedback. 

The GLPL will report to the Education Committee Chair, who is a member of the Board of Directors and the Greek School Principal on a regular intervals to discuss registration and areas of improvement. 

Youth Program – Support Assistant

The Youth Programs Support Assistant (YPSA) is responsible for providing administrative and clerical services to both the Youth Coordinator and Senior Administrative Officer (SAO) in to ensure effective and efficient operation of the community’s youth programs. 

Duties include type correspondence, reports and other documents, maintaining office files, open and distribute the mail, answer telephone calls and e-mail inquiries related to the youth and camp programs, direct calls and inquiries to both the Camp Met Coordinator and the Youth Coordinator, assist in updating the website and social media regarding the programs, provide assistance in the registration process including taking registrations, answering inquiries, handling monies from the registration, coordinating transportation and other vendors for the youth programs and camp program.

Reports to the Youth Chair, who is a member of the Board of Directors, and Parish Priest, but may also take direction from the Youth Coordinator. The YPSA will be required to ensure that instructions from these positions are followed and tasks that are assigned will be followed through. The YPSA will also be required to report any issues that may need to be escalated to the responsible department. The YPSA will be required to problem solve quest ions and problems that participants of the program may have (including registration issues).

Office Administration Assistant

The Office Administrative Assistant (OAA) is responsible for providing administrative and clerical service support to the Senior Administrative Officer (SAO), the HCV General Manager and the Parish Priest in to ensure effective and efficient operation of the HCV. 

Duties include type correspondence, reports and other documents, maintaining office files and the member database, open and distribute the mail, answer telephone calls and e-mail inquiries, direct calls to the appropriate person, assist in updating the website and social media as arises, provide assistance in the 2019-2020 registration process for various programs. 

Reports to the Senior Administrative Assistant, the HCV General Manager, and the Parish Priest. The OAA will be required to ensure that instructions from these positions are followed and tasks that are assigned will be followed through. The OAA will also be required to report any issues that may need to be escalated to the responsible department.
