Greek School News Bulletin
Welcome back to all families who were with us last year and a special welcome to all new families. We hope you had a fantastic summer and you are ready to start Greek School with all your friends and to make new friends while you learn from our great teachers and play with the Greek language.
School starts on Wednesday September 19 for those families who registered for Mondays and Wednesdays. For families who registered for Tuesdays and Thursdays, school starts Thursday September 20. For those families who registered for Saturdays please come Saturday September 22, 2018. At some point we hope you meet our Principal Mr. Dimitris Andriopoulos. Teachers will be taking attendance and distributing a list of items to bring for the week after.
One surprise this year is that you will not have to pay for a textbook because the teachers will provide you with an online version this year!!! The link will be written in the list of items. This is FREE !!!
Among other exciting changes this year are that we will now offer Fridays as a one lesson a week option for students who are level 3 and above. The other great news is that this Fall, in collaboration with Simon Fraser University Chair of Hellenic Studies and the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, children will be playing with the language using a new electronic App that is FREE!!! More news in October as to when we will unveil this modern supplemental learning tool which kids can use for free. Did we mention FREE?!?
Attached after this bulletin is the plan for the year for special dates. Please mark them in your calendar. At some point there will also be the Blessing/Ayiasmo in September.
As well, we invite all parents to contact us to volunteer for Greek School committees, to join PAC, to take turns for bathroom supervision, to help out with yiortes, etc. We expect parents who volunteer to supervise children to and in the bathroom to clear a criminal record check beforehand. Sign up is downstairs outside the Preschool classroom wall. This year Helen Kobas will again be the person for you to register the number of hours you volunteer for any of our activities. Our Communications Liaison person again will be Anna Morfidis. We thank these people who are helping us again for those tasks. More names of people to contact will be sent out at the end of the month.
Have a wonderful start! Kali Arhi !
