Our Community
Founded in 1927, the Hellenic Community of Vancouver is a cornerstone of Hellenic culture and the Greek Orthodox faith in British Columbia. Anchored by the Hellenic Community Centre and St. George’s Greek Orthodox Cathedral, we bring people together through culture, education, worship, and shared traditions.
At the heart of the Community stands St. George’s Greek Orthodox Cathedral, a place of worship, prayer, and spiritual life. Alongside it, the Hellenic Community Centre functions as a vibrant gathering space that supports cultural expression, education, and community engagement.
Our mission extends beyond maintaining traditions. We strive to foster a strong sense of belonging, encourage participation across generations, and create opportunities for meaningful connection. Through religious services, educational programs, cultural events, and social initiatives, we continue to support the spiritual and cultural life of our members.
Guided by the timeless words attributed to Aesop, “Strength through Unity”, the Hellenic Community of Vancouver remains committed to unity, continuity, and growth. As we look toward the future, we do so with respect for our past and a shared vision for generations to come.
