The Hellenic Community of Vancouver offers regular classes in traditional Greek dance, for all ages!
The dance groups, under the umbrella name of Enosis, are a homage to the original dance group that represented the Hellenic Community of Vancouver in the early to mid 1970s.
Dimitrios Kontogiannis, of Zéfyros Hellenic Dance Society, is our dance instructor. Dimitrios has been researching and teaching traditional Greek dance for over 30 years, and is committed to preserving Greece’s rich dance heritage. He has been a guest teacher at seminars in Canada and the U.S., and has frequently judged at the FDF dance competition.
He hopes to encourage our youth to recognize the value of dancing socially, which has been an integral part of our shared culture for centuries. The dance groups will also be doing dance presentations at community events and festivals.
Classes are ongoing, and students are welcome to join anytime throughout the year! Anyone can come and try the classes for free.
